Doug and Janie Heidebrink are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship currently serving at MAF headquarters in Nampa, Idaho. The Heidebrinks, along with their children, Andrew, Kristin, and Rebecca, served in Tarakan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, from 1987 to 2000, where they forged close relationships with the Indonesians. Both Doug and Janie say, “It was a joy to serve the indigenous Dayaks of East Kalimantan, meeting both their physical and spiritual needs.”
In Indonesia, Doug served as a pilot/mechanic, Chief Pilot of East Kalimantan, and Manager of Maintenance. In 1997, he was asked to serve as Program Manager of East Kalimantan, a job he found rewarding as well as challenging. At MAF headquarters in Nampa, Doug serves as Manager, Maintenance Training, evaluating potential MAF candidates, and preparing mechanics to serve overseas in various MAF programs. He also coordinates the maintenance training required for our Nampa-based mechanics.
Janie was a full-time teacher and the Superintendent of the missionary kids’ school while the family served in Indonesia. Other areas of ministry for Janie included flight-following, hospitality, shopping for missionaries in the interior as well as caring for her family. Currently, she serves at their church as the admin assistant. She also coordinates the Children’s Church and teaches in the AWANA program.
